Highlights and Takeaways from Ali Brown’s SHINE – The Premier Conference for Women Entrepreneurs – Part Four

In this post, I wanted to share with you some of the great speakers that led the breakout sessions I attended on the first half of Day Two.  There were 3 sets of 3 breakout sessions to choose from with one in each set geared towards very new businesses, or businesses that were in the process of expanding or those that were well-established and ready to break out in a big way.

Kate Buck Jr. led the breakout session entitled “Turning Facebook into Fans and Cash”.

Kate Buck (otherwise known as @katebuckjr on Twitter) is the Founder and CEO of KBJOnline, a social media management and consulting agency in Austin, Texas.  Kate has worked with some of the top names in Internet Marketing as well as consulted with dozens of entrepreneurs, businesses and nonprofits both across the United States and internationally.  She is also the co-founder of Pinqued, an interactive events production and marketing company, and has hosted wildly popular events at leading interactive marketing conferences around the country.  Prior to founding KBJOnline, she served for three years as the LandmarkConnect Community Manager for Landmark Education, a leading global training and development company.  Kate graduated cum laude with a Bachelor Degree in Fine Arts and a concentration in Dance from the University of North Texas.  She still maintains a passion for dance and served as Vice-President for the Texas Youth Dance Council.  Kate developed a social media manager training program in which more than 5,000 people have participated.  A student herself, Kate is fascinated with the technology that connects people of like minds and interests around the world and strives to keep abreast of current thought and trends.  Kate is passionate about helping individuals and businesses effectively market themselves online using social tools.” (from http://kbjonline.com/about/)

Kate Buck gave a wealth of information on how to optimally use your Facebook business page – made me realize just how much more I could be doing on mine!  By the way, my Facebook fan page is located at:

She gave 4 great reasons why people come to Facebook Fan Pages:

1.  People want to be entertained and engaged

2.  Deals and discounts

3.  Contests (she said to make sure prizes are highly targeted)

4.  Information BUT be entertaining!

The next breakout session I attended was “Million Dollar Webinars:  Your Strongest and Simplest Sales Tool” led by Lewis Howes.

Lewis Howes is a retired Football player,  co-author of LinkedIn success book,  LinkedIn Master Strategies book and LinkedWorking: Generating Success on the World’s Largest Professional Networking Website.  He is the creator of the # 1 LinkedIn and Webinar Marketing video training.  Howes has been featured in Forbes, The Wall Street Journal, Entrepreneur, Business Week, TIME, CBS Radio, Fast Company, The Washington Post, Sports Illustrated and ESPN.

Howes also gave an incredible amount of valuable information.  If you have never considered hosting a webinar, judging by Lewis Howes’ success in this medium, you may want to do so.  Here are some of the benefits Howes outlined, which he called “The Webinar Effect”:

The final breakout session I attended was “Get Clients Right Now: Fast Paths to Money in Your Pocket” led by James Roche.

James Roche is a master business teacher and coach.  Through a serendipitous event, James became the “Info Product Guy”, “creating information products for entrepreneurs all over the world in a wide variety of industries.  He started with no clients but quickly built a full coaching practice doing what he loves within a few short months.

The more he worked with clients creating their information products, the more he saw a need to help his clients first get clear on their marketing message and offers.  They needed help discovering their niche and business strategy.

I have heard James speak many times and had taken a course on “Income Publishing” (TM) that was taught by him and Ali Brown.  He is indeed a master teacher and the content he delivered in this breakout session was phenomenal!  The most important point he made in this session – and on which all the content hinged was this:

“What is the secret to getting all the clients you could want?

RELATIONSHIPS”

Because this content is proprietary, I cannot go into it but I believe just knowing this truth is enough to get you started on creating or growing the kind of business you want.
